MR VEGAS

MR VEGAS

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Clifford Smith received his nickname Mr. Vegas an early age due to his flashy style. As a dancehall artist, Mr. Vegas's unmistakable "singjay" delivery on the microphone is both forceful and seductive. Vegas bombarded his way to the top in 1997 with his singles "Heads High" and "Nike Air" and was awarded a British Music of Black Origin (MOBO) award as Best Reggae Artist, acknowledging his status as an international superstar. Mr. Vegas has maintained a steady presence on the music scene ever since with huge tunes "Pull Up" and "Popito". (On "Weed Day (In Da Club)" ? the pungent b-side to "Popito" ? Vegas versioned 50 Cent's "In Da Club" with Caribbean flavor.) In 2007, his single "Hot Wuk" dominated all three major charts in Jamaica, huge big in New York and Florida, and lit the torch for his album Hot It Up.
